On behalf of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the government body promoting the internationalization of Italian companies, our Addis Ababa office proudly organized Italy’s first participation in Innovation Africa 2025—a leading platform for education and technology cooperation across the continent.
The event, held this year in Addis Ababa, offered valuable insights into EdTech trends and innovation, creating meaningful connections between stakeholders and industry leaders. Italy is home to a thriving EdTech ecosystem, uniting startups, established companies, and research institutions to create learner-centered digital solutions with global reach.
Eleven top Italian companies showcased their innovations at the event, highlighting Italy’s dedication to digital transformation and human capital development in Africa. For Italian startups, such events are vital to connect with global partners, gain market insights, and scale their impact internationally.
Our participation aligns with the goals of the Piano Mattei, a strategic plan launched in January 2024 by the Italian government to build stronger, more equitable partnerships with African nations. With a €5.5 billion investment and a focus on six pillars—including education, energy, and infrastructure—the plan promotes sustainable growth through collaborative projects in nine African countries.
Italian technology is globally respected for its innovation, reliability, and creativity, especially in sectors like digital education and renewable energy. Through our presence at Innovation Africa, we aimed to demonstrate how Italian expertise can contribute to Africa’s development goals.
Workshops and meetings during the event gave Italian companies deeper insight into African EdTech needs, covering topics like digital learning, teacher training, and AI in education. We see this event as a key opportunity to foster partnerships and are ready to support future collaborations.
Thank you to the organizers for a successful and impactful event—we look forward to what’s next.
