Classic Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

• 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

• ⅔ cup (80g) powdered sugar

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

• ¼ teaspoon salt

• Optional for decorating:

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Melted chocolate
  • Sprinkles

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven – Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Cream the Butter and Sugar – In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.

3. Add Vanilla – Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Add the Dry Ingredients – Gradually add the flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.

5. Shape the Cookies – Use a piping bag, cookie press, or roll-and-cut method to shape the dough into desired cookie shapes. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.

Optional: If the dough is too soft, chill it for 15–20 minutes to make it easier to handle.

6. Bake – Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

7. Cool – Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

8. Decorate and Serve – Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar for a simple finish, or drizzle with melted chocolate and top with sprinkles for a festive touch.
