Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated a series of cutting-edge aviation facilities in Addis Ababa, marking a major milestone in its Vision2035 strategy. The new infrastructure, which includes modern hangars, an advanced Aircraft Component Shop, and a state-of-the-art Aircraft Parts Store, was completed within two years at a total cost of 150 million USD.
The launch ceremony, held on July 22, 2025, was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and industry leaders. The investment aims to boost the airline’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capacity and support its growing fleet.
Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa, Board Chairman of Ethiopian Airlines, emphasized the national and continental significance of the new facilities. “We are building global recognition for Ethiopia’s aviation strength,” he said, adding that the development contributes to economic growth, innovation, and national security.
Group CEO Mesfin Tasew highlighted that the project is a vital part of achieving the goals set out in Vision2035. He noted that the rapid completion of such a large-scale facility demonstrates Ethiopian Airlines’ efficiency and long-term vision.
The new facilities not only enhance operational capabilities but also reinforce Ethiopian Airlines’ position as Africa’s leading aviation group.
They are expected to create job opportunities, strengthen technical expertise, and promote regional innovation, solidifying Ethiopia’s role as a key player in global aviation.
