September is the month when the city, rich in history and culture, welcomes thousands of children returning to classrooms across government and private schools. This period marks a fresh start, filled with hope and anticipation for academic success.
As the new academic year begins in Addis Ababa, students, parents, and teachers gear up for another exciting chapter of learning and growth. The city is abuzz with preparations: families are purchasing new school uniforms, students are getting their school bags ready, and stationery supplies and books are being stocked to ensure students have all they need for a successful year.
The CANVAS creative space contributed to these preparations by holding a successful, bespoke ‘Back to School Bazaar’ at the end of August.
Schools are also preparing their classrooms and organizing schedules to welcome students back. These preparations reflect the community’s enthusiasm and commitment to providing quality education, setting the stage for a productive and inspiring year ahead.
In recent years, significant strides have been made to emphasize inclusive education, ensuring that children from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities, have access to learning opportunities.
Parents play a vital role in supporting their children’s education by providing encouragement and creating conducive learning environments at home. Meanwhile, students are encouraged to embrace discipline, curiosity, and resilience as they navigate their academic journey.
The back-to-school season also brings a sense of renewal within the community, fostering unity and shared commitment toward building a brighter future. With ongoing efforts to enhance educational quality and accessibility, Addis Ababa aims to empower its youth with skills and knowledge essential for every student to thrive and contribute to the growth of Addis Ababa and Ethiopia as a whole.
Best wishes to students, parents and teachers for a bright new start to the coming academic year!
