Hanfala Leather began its journey in 2022 from a small house with a single machine, producing custom-made leather pieces. In just over four years, the brand has grown into a recognized name within Ethiopia’s leather industry, rooted in tradition and refined through contemporary design.
The name Hanfala is inspired by a traditional leather belt worn by Guji Oromo women during maternity. Made from softened sheep, goat, or cowhide, the hanfala belt is believed to strengthen a woman’s waist after childbirth. This meaningful cultural symbol and its purpose became the foundation and inspiration behind the brand.
Today, Hanfala Leather is a proudly Ethiopian, privately held company with its factory outlet located in Sarbet, Addis Ababa, and a manufacturing workshop in Kaliti. With a dedicated team of 10 artisans, the company blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics to create high-quality leather products for today’s consumers.
