This iron road to adventure does not only carry cargo and passengers; it carries the hopes of the two nations of Ethiopia and Djibouti and their shared journey towards prosperity.
On December 28, 2025, the Ethio-Djibouti Railway (EDR) achieved a milestone by successfully operating a total of 14 trains (7 pairs), comprising 11 freight trains—including 4 outbound and 7 inbound services—and 3 passenger trains: one intercity, one international, and one special package/tourism train. This achievement reflects strong operational momentum, and EDR now looks ahead with confidence towards planning and operating a 16-train, 8-train set in the near future. The EDR team is moving forward with commitment and enthusiasm.
