Ethiopia Marks Strong Presence At Brics+ Fashion Summit 2025

Ethiopian leaders in fashion and industry joined global stakeholders in Moscow, reinforcing the country’s role as a BRICS member and advancing Africa’s voice on the international fashion stage.

The BRICS+ Fashion Summit, which took place in Moscow from August 28 to 30, once again established itself as a vital international forum for the global fashion industry. With participation from over 100 stakeholders representing more than 60 countries, the Summit provided a comprehensive platform for the exchange of ideas and discourse on diverse topics, including cultural narratives, innovation, sustainability, and investment in the fashion sector.

Ethiopia’s engagement was both prominent and substantive. Mahlet Teklemariam, Founder of Hub of Africa Fashion Week, chaired the Business Program’s “Regional Session on Africa.” The panel featured distinguished African leaders including from Ethiopia Mahlet Afework (Founder and CEO, MAFI MAFI, and Mafi Fashion Academy and Lab). The Ethiopian delegation also included Anna Getaneh, Founder and Creative Director of African Mosaique, who contributed to the session “Power of Positioning. Brand Evolution — From Logo to Culture.” Additionally, Tsgehiwot Haftu Geretsadik, Head of the Garment and Fashion Desk at the Ministry of Industry, participated in the discussion titled “Market Privileges: How to Attract Investors to the Fashion Industry.”
