Ethiopian youth have delivered an outstanding performance at the International Youth Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship, held at Lawrence Technological University in Michigan, USA.
Competing against 738 teams from 39 technologically advanced countries, the Ethiopian delegation stood out with impressive results across multiple categories. The team secured 1st place in the People’s Choice Award, showing strong public support and global recognition for their creativity and teamwork. Beyond that major win, the competitors also achieved 5th place in the Medical Robotics category and 6th place in the Innovation Exhibition, highlighting their technical skills and innovative problem-solving abilities.
This success adds to Ethiopia’s growing presence in global robotics competitions. Just last month, Ethiopian youth also earned 2nd place at the International Minoan Robotics Championship in Greece, further strengthening their reputation in the field of science and technology. These back-to-back achievements are being seen as a rising signal of Ethiopia’s expanding potential in robotics, AI, and STEM innovation on the world stage.
