The 2023 EUFF kicks-off on Friday, 27 October with an invitation-only opening night at the National

Out in the Open.

Screenings will then move to the Alliance Franco-Éthiopienne on 28, 29 October and 4, 5 November, afterwards moving to the Goethe-Institut Äthiopien during 10, 11 and 12 November, and to the Istituto Italiano di Cultura during 17 and 18 November. The EUFF features 20 recent European award-winning movies that have been screened at major

international film festivals, in a fine blend of fiction, documentaries and animation. All films have

English subtitles. The festival will also be promoting Ethiopian cinema by presenting 10 short films produced by young, emerging filmmakers.

Famous actresses, actors, filmmakers and producers from different corners of Europe will present

their movies, participate in Q&A and deliver workshops and masterclasses.

For the first time, the festival is launching a Short Film Competition to trigger creativity and find new

talent. Winners will have their films screened at the EUFF closing ceremony, and will receive filming

equipment and attractive prizes from the festival’s partners.

The festival is supported by Ethiopian Airlines, Canal+, Heineken, Keste Damena, Lovegrass, Tilla,

Aroma Coffee, Tomoca Coffee, Holland Dairy and South Spring Water.

EUFF is funded and organised by the European Union in cooperation with European Union Member

States’ embassies and cultural institutes represented in the country.

The European Film Festival is the longest-running foreign festival in Ethiopia.
