Hub Of Africa – An Overview Of The 2022 Show

Hub of Africa Addis Fashion Week (HAFW) has been promoting the African Fashion Industry in Ethiopia for the past 10+ years. 100+ African designers from the African continent have participated at HAFW. Within these past 10 years, HAFW has opened doors to designers and many other creatives in marketing their brands & services. This year we introduced our very first mentorship program in collaboration with Fashion Africa ( FA254 ) and Goethe institute and five established designers. The aim of the mentorship program is to build and encourage young and upcoming fashion designers to sustain and build their brands.

HAFW event took place for 5 consecutive days with different types of activities at the Hyatt Regency, Addis Ababa. Runway shows, Presentation + Installation of different brands and Pop-up Marketplace with a Finale show “Street Fashion Walk”

January 26th was opening night and by invitation only by HAFW and featured none-other than Samra Mersehazien (SAMRA), a high-end leather brand

January 27th Showcased 10 mentors capsule collections plus 6  up-and-coming designers on the runway as well as 12 brands within the industry as a presentation / installation

January 28th Runway show with 11 established designers from Ethiopia, DRC and Senegal

January 29th HAFW was also proud to celebrate designer and entrepreneur Genet Kebede, a pioneer in modern Ethiopian fashion industry, who presented a 30-year retrospective collection on the runway

January 30th was an ending day of the HAFW, with two main aspects; Pop-up Marketplace and Street Runway show
