On March 4, 2026, Kuriftu Resort & Spa Bishoftu officially opened the Kuriftu Barceló Service Excellence Center, in partnership with Barceló Hotel Group. The center brings global hospitality standards and training expertise to Ethiopia, helping build a skilled workforce across housekeeping, front office, and food & beverage services.
In its first year, the program aims to train 400+ hospitality professionals with 100% employability. Trainees will also gain international exposure at Barceló hotels, experiencing service excellence and global operational standards firsthand. The center has also established an exchange program where its management team can visit and train at different Barceló properties, giving them valuable exposure and allowing them to gain deeper operational insight and skills from the Barceló system.
Founded in 1931 in Mallorca, Spain, Barceló operates 300+ hotels in 30 countries, focusing on personalized service, high-quality facilities, and technology-driven guest experiences.
Looking ahead, the center plans to expand into wellness, culinary arts, and additional hospitality disciplines, shaping the next generation of Ethiopian hospitality professionals.
