Meet Grace Deneke: Leading With Compassion, Vision, And Impact

Grace Deneke, Executive Director and Founder of HOPE worldwide Ethiopia, has dedicated her life to strengthening families and transforming underserved communities through education, healthcare, and empowerment. Her leadership combines decades of professional expertise with a profound personal commitment, resulting in programs that create lasting and measurable change.

Under Grace’s direction, HOPE worldwide Ethiopia is currently advancing a growing portfolio of high-impact initiatives, including early childhood development (ECD), caregiver training, psychosocial support, school meal programs, and reusable sanitary pad projects for secondary school girls. These efforts are complemented by training in micro-financing, family planning, life skills, and small-business development, all designed to help families build resilience and long-term self-reliance.

Grace’s passion for service extends beyond Ethiopia. Over the past nine years, she has volunteered across Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, and Haiti, providing medical and community support. Her dedication was recognized with HOPE worldwide Ltd.’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2019.

A defining moment in her journey occurred during a 2013 visit to Ethiopia, where she encountered a mother living with AIDS and her HIV-positive infant. When the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program supporting them was discontinued, Grace felt compelled to establish a sustainable, community-centered response addressing HIV prevention, treatment, and care. This vision became the cornerstone of her long-term work in Ethiopia.

Building upon the legacy of HOPE worldwide Addis Ababa (established in 2010), Grace has expanded HOPE worldwide Ethiopia into a growing force for early learning, child protection, and family strengthening.

Currently, the organization enhances access to education, healthcare, and psychosocial support for hundreds of families, with plans to scale its ECD impact across additional schools and communities.

Through her leadership, Grace continues to unite local partners, global volunteers, and compassionate supporters who share her belief that every child deserves a bright beginning and every family deserves hope.
