Meet Milky; a mother of three, born and raised in Addis Ababa. She received her first degree in Ethiopian Language and literature and a Master’s degree in TEFL from Addis Ababa University. Her journey as an entrepreneur started when she faced the challenge of finding a trained nanny for her first-born daughter. Despite her efforts to hire a nanny through local brokers, she was unable to find someone who was skilled enough to take care of her child. This predicament led her to quit her job and become a full-time mom.
Milky’s experience is not unique, and she realized that many other women were suffering the same predicament. Moreover, she discovered that young women were migrating illegally in search of Job. She decided to address this problem by establishing Efoy Nanny and Housekeeping Training Center in April 2021. This social enterprise center provides comprehensive nanny training programs, with housekeeping training programs soon to come. The training center, located in Addis around Yerer, is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment, offering hands-on and practical courses taught by experienced instructors.
Milky’s focus on empowering nannies is a unique aspect of the Efoy Nanny and Housekeeping Training Center. She recognizes that being a nanny is a valuable and vital profession, and the center aims to instill a sense of pride and professionalism in its trainees. As trainees have confirmed, the skills they learned at the center have helped them find better-paying jobs and improved their overall quality of life.
