In the heart of Addis Ababa, Deborah Lundstrom is transforming the way Ethiopians experience wellness. Born in the city to an Ethiopian mother, Deborah spent her early years abroad, studying in Germany, India, and the United States before returning home to share her expertise in yoga and Ayurveda.
Deborah’s journey into yoga began in Germany, where she discovered its holistic benefits for body and mind. She deepened her practice with intensive teacher training in India and further studies in Ayurveda at the American University of Complementary Medicine in Los Angeles. These experiences inspired her to open Tulsi, a wellness center in Addis Ababa that blends yoga, Ayurveda, and artistic expression.
Movement with music, painting, and writing, allowing students to explore yoga as both Healtha physical and artistic practice. Her classes emphasize proper alignment, relaxation, and self-awareness, inviting participants to experience yoga rather than just understand it.
Aware of misconceptions in Ethiopia, Deborah works to demystify yoga, showing that it is neither a religion nor just fitness-it’s a path to balance, peace, and self-discovery. Her dedication has inspired Ethiopians of all ages to embrace a holistic approach to wellness.
Through Tulsi, Deborah Lundstrom continues to cultivate a community where body, mind, and spirit are nurtured — proving that ancient practices like yoga and Ayurveda have a vital place in modern Ethiopia.
