We are surrounded and are part of a world that is made up of things that have different shapes and colors. Combining these and creating a work of art on canvas is driven by passion and has the capacity to evoke intangible yet profound emotions in others impacting their lives. No spoken words but it can reach deep inside and touch people.
Misrak Zewide is an Ethiopian painter who was born and nurtured in the city of Addis Abeba. Ever since she was a little girl, painting her fantasies and things that she saw used to make her happy and so became her favorite past time. As she grew older, the passion for painting grew even deeper. She discovered that she was relaying her thoughts all along and her perspectives through art and she wanted to keep on doing it. And thus, she recognized it as her true calling.
Misrak strongly believes that following your true calling is a success on its own, even if sometimes it’s followed by a lack of immediate return. Fortunately for her, the prospect of becoming a painter of renown is very bright as she is talented and there happens to be a wide appreciation of art in the society, which is evidently and prodigiously displayed in people’s home, offices, and hotels. This is quite encouraging for any artist.
The first time she showcased her art works was at the BIG ART SALE 2022 at the Hilton with over 150 other artists. That gave her the insight into professional painting and assimilated her into the artist community. She has learned a lot from that experience and found art enthusiasts that share her thoughts and aspirations.
Misrak’s long term plan is to become a full-time studio artist and exhibit her paintings. She is a great admirer of the work of the legendary, the Honorable World Laureate Maître Artist Afewerk Tekle and aspires to continue sharing her feelings and thoughts through abstract painting such as he did.
