In January 2026, habeshaview cinema launched a monthly film membership club aiming to bring together a vibrant community with a shared passion for meaningful cinema.
Held by habeshaview on the first Thursday of every month at the Addis House of Culture (National Palace), each event features a welcome reception followed by a thoughtfully selected screening. The lineup includes international independent works, arthouse films, and exclusive Ethiopian cinema with English subtitles. To deepen the experience, post-screening Q&As with filmmakers or cast are held whenever possible.
The next screening will be on Thursday, April 2, 2026, featuring the film SUN NEVER AGAIN, Serbia’s Oscar submission (2026 ceremony) Directed by David Javanovic, about a family threatened by an industrial mine. The film, starring Dušan Jović and Nataša Marković, deals with environmental themes and social realism.
Past screenings include the award-winning documentary An Owl, a Garden, and the Writer by Sara Dowlatabadi, and the historical Ethiopian classic Hirut Abatwa Manew? (“Who is Hirut’s Father?”), the first, black and white, 35 mm Ethiopian film.
