STUDIO 11: A Creative Oasis In Addis Ababa

Nestled in the heart of Addis Ababa, Studio 11 stands as a testament to the creative
spirit. Studio 11’s founders, Nafkot Gebeyehu and Zion Yaynu, are two female artists
passionate about promoting Ethiopian art and culture.

Studio 11’s approach to curating and collaborating is distinct, making it a dynamic
nucleus for those eager to engage with Ethiopia’s thriving creative community. The
studio has been an impressive host to a plethora of captivating events and exhibitions that have left an impressive mark on the local art scene.

“ARTE” stands out as a small pop-up bazaar event that highlights body art and unique locally sourced art businesses. Another jewel in Studio 11’s crown is “Curves” a sketching event that captivates audiences with its real-time artistic expression. Studio 11 has also hosted thought-provoking exhibitions and is the proud organizer of “Balemuya” a platform for creative entrepreneurs to share experiences, insights, and inspirations. These discussions contribute to the city’s artistic discourse, fostering a deeper understanding of the creative process and the unique challenges faced by artists.

Studio 11, in collaboration with Ethiopia Skate, is hosting a photography exhibition called The Streets Our Playground from the end of November (postponed from September). The photographs feature three self- taught skaters and photographers who capture the joy, challenges, and creativity of skateboarding in Ethiopia.

Studio 11 has been a catalyst for creativity and innovation in the Addis Ababa art scene quickly
becoming a valuable asset to the Addis Ababa community in just 2 years. Studio 11 also offers art classes for both kids and adults.
